Buy existing home or build a new one?

buy home
KBGood asked:

Is it more cost effective to build your own home as opposed to buying an existing home? I know it’ll depend on the cost of land, but I want to get the most for my money.

I have always gone with new homes. they don’t cost much more and everything is new. Many people I know purchased used homes and shortly need new furnace, water heater, or roof, or anything that is old and worn out.
